The Sustainability You Don’t See: Decisions That Build Better

Sustainability isn’t always measured in solar panels or green roofs. Sometimes, it lies in silent decisions — in how a project is designed, built, or where it’s located.

Some of these facilities have reached the EDGE Advanced level, achieving reductions of up to 45% in energy use, 52% in water consumption, and 99% in embodied energy in materials.

Beyond recognition, these certifications reflect an integrated way of doing things — developing industrial parks that are efficient, well-located, and built to last. Sustainability is also found in decisions that improve operations, optimize resources, and generate value for companies, people, and cities.

In the case of OD Tlalpan, an old pharmaceutical campus was repurposed into a modern industrial park. Its location — next to the General Anaya Metro station, Metrobús, and other public transport routes — promotes sustainable mobility and reduces dependence on cars. The project also includes a retail area and art spaces that connect with the surroundings and the community, making the park more functional and human.
